Khabib Nurmagomedov, a well-known UFC Champion, will face the American Tony Ferguson at the organization's tournament held in Brooklyn on April 18, 2020. This was announced by the Russian’s manager Ali Abdelaziz on his Twitter page.
According to the fighter’s representative, Nurmagomedov signed a contract for the fight with Ferguson. In proof of his statement, Abdelaziz attached a screenshot of the contract to his post on Twitter.
As for the American, he has not signed a contract yet but it is known that the fighter’s team is interested in holding a fight at the tournament in Brooklyn. In total, the 35-year-old American spent 28 fights in MMA. He managed to win in 25 bouts and lost three times.
The upcoming attempt to organize a fight between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov will be the fifth in UFC history. The fighters were to meet for the first time in December 2015 but the Russian was injured. Therefore, the fight was postponed to April 2016 but then the American was unable to face the Russian due to lung problems. In 2017, Nurmagomedov was hospitalized owing to problems during weight loss, and in 2018, Ferguson injured his knee so the fight was withdrawn again.
As mentioned earlier, the WBC world heavyweight champion Wilder wants recognition having defeated Ortiz in a spectacular fight.
