According to the recent reports and esports news, the games market in Germany has been thriving during the first two quarters of 2020.
Of course, the main reason for this is the coronavirus pandemic that has urged people to stay at home and find entertainment under such circumstances. Moreover, gaming allowed players to cope with the crisis during the lockdown. The latest data show that approximately thirty-five percent of people have been playing more during the pandemic, and twenty-eight percent have admitted that this leisure activity has helped them to feel good.
Germany’s games market surprised with its figures
While the online gambling industry has experienced a significant growth in traffic in several sectors, the games market has also recorded an impressive increase. As the statistics published by the German Games Industry Association show, it has grown by twenty-seven percent during the first several months of 2020. Its revenue for this period is estimated at €3.7 billion, including not only games sales but also hardware.
The same situation is with the in-game purchases that have been in high demand as well. They have generated €1.5 billion in total, which is thirty-five percent more than in the previous year. It is worth mentioning that users have bought both cheap and small additional features and expensive items. Another interesting fact is that players have preferred to purchase PC hardware for gaming rather than modern consoles.
