According to the quarterly report provided by the Spanish regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), the gambling market in the country didn’t have a solid performance in the third quarter of 2020.
However, the news about the betting sector is better. This vertical is the leader in the total revenue amount if to consider 2020’s Q3.
Pre-match and in-play betting types have dominance
The report has informed that the overall third quarter’s GGR is €197.17 million. This rate means a slight decline in quarter-on-quarter revenue but, at the same time, these figures indicate an increase in the YoY revenue. In addition to this, there is a growth of the number of new accounts – by almost 140% in comparison to the previous quarter.
The GGR analysis by segment has revealed that the bookmaking market is the strongest vertical. It holds the biggest revenue share – 43.22%, which is €85.23 million. The sector’s growth rate is 25.06 percent (QoQ), the year-over-year results aren’t good, as it has decreased by 15.43 percent. Pre-match betting with its approximately 33% raise and in-play bets with a growth rate of 32% have proved to be the most much-in-demand bookmaking types. Horse racing betting wasn’t very popular during the third quarter – it declined by 175.95%.
