In that respect, the governor of Osaka Hirofumi Yoshimura announced they will start the integrated casino RFP process in 2019. Besides, according to him, they are planning to choose the operator by next Northern Hemisphere spring.
MGM Resorts aims at Osaka
The chairman of MGM Resorts International Jim Murren claims it will be difficult but possible to launch an Osaka integrated resort by 2025.
Murren told launching this project in June would require surgical precision and local authorities would need to cooperate with private sector to achieve this.
Integrated resort Basic Plan
Japan’s MLIT published the casino resort Basic Plan. According to media reports, this plan consists of 46 pages and doesn’t have any pictures and charts. Its aim is to make rules clearer for this segment.
The government of Japan is seemingly trying to enhance the MICE tourism industry and international competitiveness of Japan. One of the targets, according to this integrated resort Basic Plan, is to bring in 60 million tourists each year by 2030.
It will be possible to discuss this plan and make public comments till October 3.
As mentioned earlier, Japan is actively preparing for the introduction of its casino industry.
