The TV advertising will be cut in the upcoming year due to the Norwegian Media Authority's changes. This decision is related to the finding that Norwegians started to gamble more in the last years. Norway Changes the Gambling Advertising Approach Since 2021

The Norwegian Media Authority implements new advertising rules from the first day of 2021. The organization is going to eliminate the overseas gambling advertising from the screens, while the local operators will also suffer. Thus, Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto, two state-owned gambling operators, will also reduce the amount of advertising, especially on TV.

What particular aspects will change except ads decrease?

Interestingly, but the overall decline of gambling products' promotion aims to turn the punters' attention to the official operators. The advertising absence for unlicensed platforms should bring more clients to state-owned ones.

At the same time, both Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto will adjust their advertising approach along with its amount. Thus, the requirement for responsible marketing forces operators to include information about the available helping centers and their contacts in the ads.

All the aforementioned initiatives are the result of the survey that shows that gambling addiction behavior has increased among citizens since 2015. However, the governors' intention to turn the trend towards decreasing goes in parallel with the gambling industry's changes like reviewing the existing acts and opening the market for private operators.
