Speaking about esports trends and news at the SBC Digital Summit, a sportsbook director at Danske Spil, Jens Nielsen has said that he sees strong potential in this sector. The expert is sure that esports is the thing of the future in the gambling industry.
It goes without saying that the lack of traditional sports activities has made betting services providers find new ways how to retain customers. Almost everything has been canceled and professional bettors and enthusiasts are ready to consider opportunities and activities that they haven’t experienced before. However, these tough times have awakened those verticals that haven’t been very popular earlier and esports is undoubtedly one of them.
Jens Nielsen also promotes this idea: “We see a higher level of esports betting. Of course, not all bettors are experts in this sphere but people still watch esports. The last 6-7 weeks are a strong period for this market segment and its figures are much more than normal. Some people tried esports betting and stayed with it. I think it is an excellent kind of sport for live streaming and it can be very popular. Esports is a good focus area to promote and we should explain how it works to our clients.”
The speaker has mentioned other sports activities that attract people’s attention during the lockdown. For example, his company sees interest in chess tournaments and football matches in Belarus. They can help to propel betting activity that is quite low now. Nielsen says that betting operators should look forward and prepare for sports coming back to be ready for that.
