German sports bookmakers must adhere to the updated legislative rules for legal operation in the country.
The Darmstadt Regional Council’s new ruling has become another headache for German operators. By this decision, online betting companies must prove their non-involvement in unregulated gambling activities, as well as regulated ones. Only bookmakers that do not have affiliates providing gambling services will have the right to obtain the German sports betting license.
These measures are aimed at differentiating between gambling and betting, as well as providing better regulation for both of these industries. All sports betting operators are also obliged to provide the authorities with financial reports and proof of their additional licenses (if available).
As the licensing campaign launch has been set for the beginning of 2020, betting companies still have time to adjust to these new requirements.
