Following casino news about the self-restriction system in Great Britain, the Australian government also decided to launch the initiative in the country.
Inspired by the UK’s Gamstop the self-exclusion scheme is expected to help Australian players with the signs of gambling addiction.
The service’s beta version will be launched this year
Engine Australia, a manufacturer of engine hardware, got an opportunity to collaborate with the ACMA. It will provide solutions for Australia’s first self-ban register available for those who gamble on smartphones and online. The initial version of the engine is developed and represented by the UK Gambling Commission. However, Australia will create its own system based on Great Britain’s example and solution.
The engine’s design and development process require further consideration by stakeholders. Its beta version will be launched in 2021, while the release version will be available to gamblers in 2022. Those players who will add themselves to the register will be restricted from visiting casinos and gambling websites as well as seeing related ads.
