The latest lottery news informs that those who have downloaded the DLB Sweep App now will have the opportunity to play the "Sasiri" lotto game on mobile devices. According to the company's representatives, it's the first digital lucky-guessing gaming approach in the South Asian region.

DLB Announced First Digital Mobile Lottery in South Asia

The Development Lotteries Board introduced the first digital lottery that can be played via mobile phones and gadgets. Sri Lanka citizens received the unique opportunity to play their favorite "Sasiri" lucky-guessing game on their iOS and Android-driven devices. Unexpectedly, but that is the first case of a digital lottery launching in South Asia.

DLB continues its digitizing approach in Sri Lanka, where it is based, as the company tries to keep up with the times. During their 37-year history, the organization was trying to improve the services for Sri Lanka citizens. It led to the adoption of the renewed requirements towards lotteries, in which the Development Lotteries Act in 1997 and active support of the President's Fund became the cornerstones.

DLB at the forefront of digital lotteries in the South Asian region

Another important event occurred last year when the Development Lotteries Board launched the first mobile application dedicated to Sri Lanka lotteries. The "DLB Seep App" became a highly recognized digital solution as it gave the possibility to check the tickets via QR-code scanning on mobile devices.

Now, the functionality of the application has grown to the ability to play the favorite lotto game. According to officials, this lucky-guessing game will name winners twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Interestingly, the lion's share of the revenues will be sent to the President's Fund, but now with the primary focus on dealing with COVID-19. Moreover, the developers consider this new approach to gambling as the opportunity to prevent coronavirus spreading, while "Sasiri" is still available in the land-based lotto shops.
