The Chinese government commended Cambodia and the Philippines for their decisive steps in combating gambling on their territories and stressed the importance of anti-gambling policy.
Yesterday’s press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' representative Geng Shuang was dedicated to online gambling ban in Cambodia and suspending the issuance of online gambling licenses in the Philippines.
The spokesperson said that China fully supported Cambodia’s initiative because it would help to protect the citizens of both countries, as well as strengthen friendly relations between the countries. He expressed the hope that law enforcement cooperation with Cambodia in this field would continue in the future.
Mr. Shuang also praised the Philippines’ efforts in limiting gambling operation in the country but emphasized that China would expect Rodrigo Duterte to introduce a total ban on online gambling. By the way, the Philippine President’s meeting with China's leader Xi Jinping in Beijing is scheduled for August 28, which will contain discussions on different topics including gambling and relations between the countries.
According to Chinese authorities, online gambling is a tumor that kills China’s citizens. Therefore, they are going to do whatever it takes to eliminate this threat and enable the Chinese to live without gambling problems.
As mentioned earlier, the Chinese government expressed its concern regarding the Philippine gambling operators’ illegal activities in China.
