The ease of lockdown measures and permission for the land-based betting sector to return to work were strongly welcomed by the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC). The organization reminded the importance of this step for the British economy. Login Casino follows the latest betting news, presenting an overview of the official statement.

Betting Shops Reopening Totally Supported by BGC

Even though the BGC was calling to allow betting shops' reopening earlier, the organization supports the decision to ease quarantine measures. According to the official statement, this step means opening about 6000 brick-and-mortar venues in England and Wales.

To show the importance of the fact, Michael Dugher (CEO of the BGC) said that reopening would return to work about 46 000 employees. It directly correlates with a financial feed the country will receive as the land-based betting sector is usually contributing around £1 billion in taxes and £350 million to support the horseracing industry.

Recent limitations and restrictions

Although the reopening has finally opened venues, they have to comply with strict anti-COVID-19 measures. While Perspex screens, sanitizers, and social distancing are ordinary measures, betting shops have also to remove screens for live events' watching. Also, the maximum time a bettor can spend in the venue is 15 minutes, where tablets and chairs are also absent now.
