Taking into account the oversaturated poker tournament schedule, many professional players are surprised why Australia does not have its own World series like, for instance, in Europe. When asked about the most favorite casino outside Las Vegas, the majority of pros name the Crown in Melbourne.
Due to the fact that Aussie Millions – the Australian championship consisting of several tournaments – is usually held in January, the schedule has been extended with Australian Poker Open, which is set to take place at the end of January.
This year, participants of the Australian Poker Open will meet at the tables of The Star Gold Coast in Queensland. The festival will consist of seven events with a buy-in between 10,000 and 100,000 Australian dollars. Australian Poker Open will last from January 25 to January 31. Each tournament will follow the British Poker Open scheme with a final table broadcast at PokerGO.
In order to compete for the Super High-roller Bowl (SHRB) one will have to pay 250,000 Australian dollars.
As mentioned earlier, the World Series of Poker has already announced the Best Player of the Year 2019.
