The Swedish gambling regulator – Spelinspektionen – took into consideration operators’ requests for activation of betting on virtual sports in the country. It is going to prepare and issue a set of regulations for this gambling sector.

According to daily betting news from all over the world, Coronavirus pandemic influenced sports greatly as many tournaments, matches, and contests were postponed for an uncertain period. It has given rise to other betting segments which can operate even under such circumstances. Thus, virtual sports betting operators in Sweden have decided to develop the market and the regulator is going to control this process.

The regulator is working on the terms of the license

Now the Swedish Gaming Authority has a lot of work to do. First of all, its members should prepare special guidelines for operators on the basis of which they can provide betting services. The second step is to find ways of controlling such companies.

The regulator has stated that companies, which already hold a betting license, can start operating without approval from Spelinspektionen. As for others, they still need to inform it before adding betting services to their gambling products. All license holders must have up-to-date technical documents and gambling certificates. Recently, the regulator has brought to light several companies that don’t have appropriate licensing.
